Counter of Hairs!

Counter of Hairs

I don’t know about you, but I have a life so full of details that continually need attention.  There’s so much stuff to remember, to keep organized, passwords, and a barrage of all kinds of other life and ministry details that are easily forgotten or slip through the cracks unless I stay intentional about calling, logging, storing, and maintaining.  It never seems to end.

This weekend I logged in on a site I had subscribed to, but my password was rejected.  I had forgotten it.  After trying many different combinations of what I thought it should be, the site shut me out.  I was so frustrated.  Just a little detail made all the difference in the world accessing information I needed.

Details are those tiny particulars that make all the difference in the outcome of things and shouldn’t be overlooked.

While teaching some truths on prayer, I told the children God knows everything about us…even how many hairs are on our head.  The next week I was teaching on Adoration.  I told the children we were going to practice saying something real nice about God.  We would do an echo prayer, and when we came to the blank, we would just say out loud your  “Adoration” word about God.

Dear God, You are so__________________.

All of the children were saying out loud their “Adoration”, but as they echoed the prayer, here is what I heard above all the others.

Dear God, You are (very loudly) THE COUNTER OF HAIRS!

He had remembered that truth from the week before and had no doubt spent time in awe that God was such a great counter!

“Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”  Luke 12:7

I have thought about that description of God over and over in my mind.  “The Counter of Hairs” … What a creatively beautiful description.  Just hearing this voiced made me fall even more in love with God.

“He telleth the number of stars; he calleth them by their names.”  Psalm 147:4

This same God who counts hairs and spoke the stars into existence …knows all the details of my life and your life and still loves and cares for us. Nothing is too small, too big, or too unimportant for God.  He knows the cry of our hearts, those details that we carry deep within, that hurt, stress or worry us, yet we never voice them.  He even knows why we think what we think.

“For the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts.”          1 Chronicles 28:9

We may forget or overlook the bombardment of the constant stream of details that daily flood our lives, but here are 10 things to remember and live:

10 Things That Will Change the Way You Live

  1. Nothing is too hard for God, so give it to him.
  2. God cares about every tiny detail in your life.
  3. God is your creator.
  4. God knows you by name.
  5. God knows your heart, but talking with Him makes all the difference in the world.
  6. God desires a close relationship with you.
  7. God has you constantly on his mind.  His thoughts toward you would outnumber the grains of sand.
  8. God has a plan for your life.
  9. God loved you and the entire world so much that He sent Jesus to pay the price for sin so you could be forgiven and receive a brand new life.

  4. It is such an amazing thought – He keeps count of our hairs. On any given day, the number may be different too as some fall out & some grow in. The number is constantly changing & yet, He keeps accurate count as His eye is always on us. Grateful to have stopped here from The Sunday Community. Blessings!

  11. I read this a few days ago. Yesterday as I was praying I found myself calling God the counter of hairs. :). He cares all about our details.

    • 🙂 I have done that too. Kids have such an unscathed view of God. I love it. Yes and amen…he cares about our details. Thank you so much for stopping back by.

Cathy, I saw this post and was so encouraged because I have lost about 50 percent of my hair due to meds/conditions. My Lord knows how many are still there! He knows those who are suffering much more significantly than I. More importantly, He knows the situations right now about which I am tempted to be fearful. He is there already. Thank you, dearest friend.

    • Bonnie, I was so happy to see your comment. Always find comfort that God knows EVERYTHING about your EVERYTHING! I am so sorry about how sick you have been, I am continually praying for you and your health. What ever is tempting fear…know he has you in the center of his hand. You are right…he is already there! I love you and miss you ministering beside me. Blessings & Much Love, Cathy.
